Our dedication to providing the best solutions for environmentally safe printing products is demonstarted in everything we do.

Company History

Greg Barber Company started shortly after the 20th anniversary of Earth Day, 1990. I remember seeing Connie Chung state on national TV that 60% of the landfill problems were due to paper and printing waste and then the following day, Earth Day, I saw middle school and high school students celebrating Earth Day.

I was sold. I decided to merge my paper business and my printing business into focusing on environmental paper and printing.

I first started promoting 100% post-consumer waste paper since by using previously printed paper to make new paper, we would not add to our over crowded landfills and avoid burning this waste and polluting our atmosphere.

Next, I moved onto chlorine free paper, which avoids producing dioxins, a deadly toxic chemical...
Mixed with other chemicals, it will cause cancer.
There is no need to continue using chlorine bleached papers, as we have chlorine free paper in recycled stocks, both in coated and uncoated and at basically the same prices.

Tree Free came next, and I sell Hemp, Kenaf, Old Money, Denim and even 100% PCW, which many consider as 2nd generation tree free, since no new trees are used in the process of making 100% post-consumer waste paper.

I was honored in Communications Art Magazine in 1998, as the first Eco Kudo award winner for Environmental Printing. Recently, one of our print jobs was selected for a print award for our client in How Magazine. This job was printed on Denim, which is made from 100% denim scraps, and is a blue shade like the jeans,
and is extremely strong and has a good snap to it, as the new paper is 100% rag content.

I gravated to digital printing, as an additional print medium to our offset printing as I saw high tech changing our industry in a big way.

As an added benefit, since digital is cost effective for the type of printing I receive, there is room to spend a little more for the rag content tree free lines, and more expensive recycled lines. Digital is ideal for short run 4 color work for business cards, postcards, greeting cards, flyers, brochures and most print work that is less than 1000 sheets of 14 x 20 on our Igen Press.

I am also affiliated with Graphic Paper, where I sell environmental papers to many GSA buyers as well as regular commercial accounts. I sell to The USEPA, The US Fish & Wildlife, The Department of Veterans Affairs, The NPS, NRDC, The Nathan Cummings Foundation, Earth Pledge Foundation, to name a few.

The sheets most in demand by the government are high PCW xerox papers, that are also chlorine free. That is now true in the commercial sector for the accounts we service.

When I am not selling my paper and printing, I enjoy playing golf, working out in the gym, going for a jog and heading to the beach.

Maybe, we can play a round of golf some day?
