At what resolution should I save my photos and graphics? Resolution should be set to 300 dpi.
Pictures and graphics pulled from the internet are often low resolution, typically 72 dpi or 96 dpi. Avoid these graphics, as they will appear pixilated and blocky when printed.
Also note that you should save all photos in CMYK mode, not RGB mode when possible. Images saved in RGB mode may not print properly. If you are unable to save your image in CYMK mode, please let us know. Can The Environmental Logos Be Used?We can use them if you purchase the correct environmental processes.
We have the recycled emblem, the chlorine free certified emblem, and the soy ink emblems.
The chlorine free emblem must be registered with the certifying body, The Chlorine Free Products Association. They go to both the paper mills and the pulp mills and test for chlorine use. This emblem means a lot. There are mills that claim PCF (Processed chlorine Free), but have no documentation to back their claims up. The UN demands this emblem when they go out for bids. Do We Offer Chlorine Free Paper? We have several lines that have been certified by The Chlorine Free Products Association. They include our 100% post-consumer line, Evolution, that comes in 24# writing, 70 and 80# text and a matching 80# cover. We print our co-op business cards on this grade in glacier white, and a natural beige color.
We also have New Life DP in 20# and 24#. The 24# can be substituted for 60# opaque jobs. This line is priced below the opaque market pricing. New Life DP is 80% post-consumer and we sell alot of this paper to the government agencies, the United Nations, NRDC, the USEPA, etc.
Our coated line, Pheno Star is chlorine free and we feature the cover for business cards, postcards, flyers, etc. Does Recycled Paper Print Well?I am asked this question a lot. There is no difference in the print quality of our recycled papers and virgin paper.
Most mills are now carrying more recycled grades and they have perfected the quality issues over the past 15 years.
Our soy inks and non toxic digital inks work the same on recycled and non recycled papers.
If you are skeptical, let me run a test for you. How do I go about getting an estimate from you? The best way is to fill out our estimate request form and email it to us, or call us at the plant. That number is 201 727 0400. If it is a rush, ask the plant to call me on my cell phone. I will call ASAP.
You can upload your files, by clicking Send A File, and we will be in a better position to quote you correctly. The file transfer is very fast. How long does it take for you to complete my order? Generally, we need 24 hours or less for a PDF proof, and once you have OK'D the proof, for small orders, we need 1-3 days. We have done rush orders from start to finish in 1 day.
Large offset orders are done usually in 3 to 10 days, depending on the amount of pages, whether it is 1, 2 or 4 color printing, and whether we need to die cut, wiro bind, etc. Just ask me.
Greg Is white considered a printing color? Not typically. Because white is the default color of paper, it is simply recognized as the absence of any ink. However, when using colored paper, white ink may be used if any text or graphic requires it. Tips on how to save your design files Make them print ready and acceptable for us to print.

You will need to have the full version of Adobe Acrobat PDF. If you don’t please download and use our Adobe Job Ready Program. If you do have the full version of Adobe Acrobat PDF please follow the steps below.
Under File, Print, select Adobe PDF writer
Under Properties select Press Quality and Save your PDF What Does Processed Chlorine Free Mean?It means that when the original fiber is recycled to make new paper, no chlorine bleach is used. Instead, Oxygen or Hydrogen Peroxide is used in the bleaching process. Chlorine bleaching creates Dioxins: highly toxic substances that poison our water, fish and humans. Dioxins cause cancer. What are the comparative advantages of producing my job on your duplicating devices versus producing them on your presses? The advantage of printing digitally is apparent on jobs up to 500 sheets of 14 x 20. The set up time is much lower than printing offset. Thus, a 4 color job for 1000 flyers, printed 2 sides is much less than printing on a Heidleberg Press. After 1000, I would compare the prices versus conventional printing. Also, I can print a digital job in 24 hours and there are a lot of calls for rush printing. Offset printing is used on longer run brochures, flyers, etc. What file format should I use when submitting my electronic document for printing? PDF (Portable Document Format) is the most common and preferred file format for submitting digital documents. With the installation of a PDF print driver on your computer, virtually any program can generate a PDF file suitable for printing. Both commercial and free PDF print drivers are available online for download from different sources. What is a proof and why is it important that I look at it? In printing terms, a proof is a one-off copy of your document after all modifications and printing setup processes have been completed. It is your last and best opportunity to make sure that the print job comes out the way you want. By carefully inspecting the proof, you can help us assure an accurate, flawless delivery of your print job on the first run. What is the Pantone Matching System? The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is a color reproduction standard in which colors all across the spectrum are each identified by a unique, independent number. The use of PMS allows us to precisely match colors and maintain color consistency throughout the printing process. What kind of work does our store do? We handle offset and digital printing. We own the best digital press on the market, the Igen.
This press can print up to 14 x 20 sheets of paper at 6000 impressions per hour for 8.5 x 11 sheets. We also do large brochures, pocket folders, stationary, large posters and banners, and we sell speciality environmental paper that includes 100% Post-Consumer Recycled, Chlorine Free, Recycled Coated, Tree Free Hemp, Kenaf, Old Money and Denim. We have CO-OP printing at 50% off, running twice per month. Why do the printed colors look different from the colors on my screen? In short, printers and monitors produce colors in different ways.
Monitors use the RGB (red, green, blue) color model, which usually supports a wider spectrum of colors. Printers use the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color model, which can reproduce most—but not all—of the colors in the RGB color model. Depending on the equipment used, CMYK generally matches 85–90% of the colors in the RGB model.
When a color is selected from the RGB model that is out of the range of the CMYK model, the application chooses what it thinks is the closest color that will match. Programs like Adobe Photoshop will allow you to choose which color will be replaced. Others may not.
